Oh the bailout - this damn bailout that keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger and less and less convincing that it will help.
What can I say to a government who chooses to take my money from me to help those who were irresponsible or lacked common sense? I say NO! NO, you cannot have money that I may need to pay my own mortgage - a mortgage that was entered into with thought, worry and responsibility and that was shored up by years of savings and constant weekends of home improvement projects. NO, you cannot use my money to keep someone in their home who quite frankly, doesn’t deserve it because they either lied about their income or believed what they wanted to believe from some predatory lender. I say NO to help someone who signed their name on the dotted line despite whatever was screaming at them from their conscience. NO! I will not allow you to give my money to someone who knowingly decided to live in a home they could not afford; someone who was so taken in with their own entitlement they refused to come to grips with reality and act accordingly. I will NOT allow you to bailout someone who allowed greed to takeover their judgment and buy a house and then flip it to "get rich quick". NO, NO, NO!
NO, you cannot have my money until you recoup these losses from those who were dishonest in giving the mortgages out in the first place to people they knew could not pay. NO, I will not "sacrifice" and bear the burden when those who caused this problem in the first place are still living better than I am. NO, I will not consent to having my money go to alleviate the burden on those who caused this and now may cause me to lose the home I worked to build for 8 years - the right way, within my means, honorably, realistically and independently. NO, NO, NO!I will NOT allow my government to reward greedy and irresponsible behavior.
I will NOT allow my government to keep a system afloat with my money that has been so easily manipulated and driven into the ground, especially without consequences to those who did the driving. I will NOT accept the rationale that the government has the responsibility to bailout ANYBODY or ANY BUSINESS- no matter how big or stupid or naive or uneducated they are or claim to be. There are no foreclosure VICITMS!
This country was founded on self-reliance. One worked for his or her own betterment and helped others in bad times as needed. Even during the Great Depression, folks had to make due for quite some time before help came from the government - they weren't expecting anything and they made due WITH LESS. That experience forged the toughest, most responsible, patriotic and self-reliant generation this world has ever seen. Unfortunately, in their desire to give to their children what they didn't have, they started a cycle of rearing a selfish, irresponsible, spoiled, whiny, clueless society. A society that MUST learn again to be self reliant if it is ever to regain its place as world leader and it cannot do that while the government is handing out subsidies. NO, NO, NO!
